Week of Photos

Photo Editing:

1. I used a screen adjustment layer to lighten the picture up a little. Then I used the paint brush to take out the adjustment layer in the sky, the train, and the buildings. I also used the headlights of my car when I shot the picture to get some light into the photo in the foreground. 

2. For this photo, I just bumped up the saturation a little bit. I like how this picture turned out. When I shot the picture, I tried to get a good amount of reflection in the puddle. 

3. There is no editing done to this photo. 

4. I used an adjustment layer to lighten up the foreground of the picture. Then I used the paintbrush tool to take the adjustment layer out of the background. I also used my car headlights to get some light into the photo. 

5. For the playground photo I used an adjustment layer to lighten up the picture. Then I used the paintbrush tool to take out the adjustment layer in the sky and the swings. When I took the photo, I focused on the people while they were swinging. Then when they were in the air, I shot the picture.

Editing Portraits

Photo Edits:

For the first picture, I followed the portrait enhancement tutorial and used some of their tricks. I fixed her skin and used a gaussian blur to clear her skin up a bit. I also added some saturation to her lips and lightened her eye color to a lighter brown. I also added some saturation in the background of the photo. I also brightened the whole picture a bit. 

For the second picture, I used the match color tool. I took the original image and matched the colors to the next picture. The third picture is the final image with the best lighting and skin tone. 

For the third final edited picture, I used the color replacement tool. I thought this was the coolest thing to use. I made several layers on the original picture. I selected the blue in Michael's sweatshirt and then changed it to purple. This also changed the color of their jeans a little which I really liked. On a separate layer, I selected the gray of her sweatshirt and changed it to yellow. I really like the effect this created.

Portraits

These are a few of the portraits I took of my friends Michael and Sheila. For the first picture of Michael, I desaturated the picture and then added more saturation to the yellow in his skateboard. For the second picture of me and Sheila, I used a tripod to get the shot. I also used the color replacement tool and replaced both of our sweatshirts with contrasting colors. I also bumped up the saturation in the sky. The last two pictures are not edited.

HDR Photos

I took these photos of a door in a cabin that had a crooked foundation. I used a tripod to keep steady and changed the settings to take the shot.

Macro Abstract

I took the shot of the sewing machine inside one of the buildings. I wanted to get a good angle and get a lot of good boca in it. The texture shot I took while we were in the abandoned warehouse. It was an old wall that was falling apart. During the editing process, I set the texture shot as a new layer and set the transparency level to 23%. I also used a screen adjustment layer on the background layer.

Reverse Shallow Depth

I had a hard time taking reverse shallow depth. A lot of the pictures I took had both the foreground and background in focus. I'm happy with how this picture turned out because I was able to get the background out of focus. I also like the detail shown in the wood and rusty nail. I used the macro option and then focused on the nail to get the background out of focus. Then for the second picture, I focused on something else far away and then moved the camera to point at the cabin and nail. This brought the background into focus and the foreground out of focus.

Action Blur and Freeze

The first photo was taken inside one of the buildings on the main street. I focused on the hallway, had Handsome Rob start walking, and then took the shot. It was pretty light in the hallway. If it had been darker, the shot might have been better. The next image was taken outside on the main street. Josh was posing for a few of us and we had him jump off the steps. I'm super excited about this shot because his pose is awesome. When I took this shot I focused on the steps, waited for him to jump and then shoot the picture. The last picture was taken later in the afternoon by the gallows. Jared and I had Riley stand on the stump and then jump off. I focused the camera and then shot the picture when Riley had jumped into the air. He's a little too good at playing dead.
